General Grant, the undisputed ragga soca king of Trinidad & Tobago, boasts decades of experience in the soca industry. He first rose to prominence in the 1980s when Robert Amar and Caribbean Sound Basin (CSB) gave him his break. Starting out as a toaster and DJ, Grant quickly made a name for himself with a unique blend of reggae, hip-hop, soca, dancehall, and Caribbean rhythms.
At CSB, he penned hits like Shot Call, Pure Hate, Chunkalunks, and Soca Billboard, landing him on the Billboard charts and BET’s Sound Stage. He has collaborated with major regional stars including Machel Montano, Denise “Saucy Wow” Belfon, Kurt Allen, the late Sonny Man, and Farmer Nappy. He also featured on an album by American R&B group Tony! Toni! Toné! and remade the Four Tops’ Ain’t No Woman.
Now under the full-time management of Wendy H Lewis of Khalabash Entertainment his former European manager General Grant is back and ready to energize the music scene once again.
